Modeling of humans

SMART PICTO_Page_1

Building models of virtual humans is a major federative project, with a high scientific and technological impact, extending from the understanding of physiological and neurophysiological functions, to contributions to the study of natural/artificial interfaces. Indeed, such models encompass integrated representations of the musculoskeletal system, of the basic motor and perceptive systems, and of the learning and adaptation mechanisms subserving the human behavioral and cognitive versatility.

Beyond the isolated objectives of building biomechanical models of the human body, on the one hand, and neuro-computational models of the brain, a major contribution of this program is the integration of all these modelling levels in a comprehensive architecture.

Main Challenges:

1. Human body models: Advanced anthropometry and biomechanics methods; Complex behavior synthesis for real-time interactive simulation.

2. Brain control of body models: Integration of multimodal sensory inputs; Mathematical approaches of dynamic systems;  Distributed parallel computation; Stochastic multi-objective parameter optimization; Functional imaging; Learning models; Spatial cognition; Motor command architectures; Physical and cognitive integrative architectures.
