Interfaces and Interaction with humans
In a digital society, humans will communicate not only with humans but also with conversational agents (avatars) or with humanoid robots. They will also have Human communication with conversational agents (avatars) and interactions with robots have to be as close as possible to natural interactions with other individuals and use different modalities. SMART investigates the design of new devices that enhance the range of interactions between human and machines (haptic devices, BCI) and new interaction modalities and signals including cognitive and emotional aspects. This program covers the physics of sensors, signal and image processing techniques, machine learning, cognition, affective computing, and interaction behaviors.
